April 4-5: More Framing and drywall

Ok, I started this weekend by pulling up the carpet in what was going to be a hall from the kitchen to the laundry room. We found this awesome linoleum under the carpet:

Pulling up carpet is not fun. You have to pull back the carpet itself and then pull up all of the padding from underneath (that's in a pile on the right). Then pull up ALL of the staples and the tack boards along the wall that hold the carpet in place. Fun. At this point we were still considering keeping the carpet in the bedroom, so it is still attached to the floor on the right (which is where the bedroom will be).

This the framing for the wall that will make the hallway between the laundry room and the kitchen.

Action construction shot.

Another action construction shot. We have the door in just to test that the opening for the door is big enough -- but not too big!

We were able to start hanging drywall on the living room wall. This is a shot from the living room.

We also added insulation. This was before we realized that none of our other interior walls have insulation. Welp. Also, I apologize for the lack of enthusiasm on my face here. It was very late. I was very tired.

Hanging drywall.

Well that wall is done.

More to come!
